AI GUIDE
In partnership with Eblana Learning, we have created a practical, evidence-based AI Guide for Senior Cycle Students.
The Guide promotes a human-first approach to AI and is organised into four sections. Section One helps students to understand how humans and AI learn and why it is necessary to adopt a critical approach to AI. Section Two considers the impact of AI on societal wellbeing, taking into account a range of moral, legal and ethical dimensions, such as privacy, attribution, bias, blind spots and academic integrity. Section Three explores the opportunities and risks of AI in education, including the risk-return balance in relation to cognition and companionship. We invite students to take more control of their AI use and provide tips on how they might manage the capabilities of AI responsibly. Section Four, totalling half of the guide, includes hands-on practical tasks that engage with and build on sections one to three. These activities, with answer keys, enhance critical thinking skills and steer the student to engage with AI from the perspective of a conscious, informed and ethical user.
The Guide helps students to develop the knowledge, skills and judgement to use AI effectively and without surrendering the thinking that is essential to learning.
NOTE: Our AI Guide is currently available to Republic of Ireland customers only. A UK version is coming soon.
